For flavor, sprinkle the casserole with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.

We like to serve thisbeef casserolewith a fresh green salad and crusty bread.

Ingredients

Nonstick cooking spray

12oz.lean ground beef

12cupchopped onion(1medium)

1(15-oz.

)cantomato sauce

14tsp.salt

14tsp.garlic powder

14tsp.ground black pepper

4cupdried medium noodles(about8oz.)

1cupcottage cheese

12of an (8-oz.

Lightly coat a 2-quart rectangular baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.

Stir in the tomato sauce, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.

Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions; drain.

Spread half of the noodles in the prepared baking dish.

Top with about half of the meat mixture, then all of the cottage cheese mixture, spreading evenly.

Top with the remaining noodles and remaining meat mixture.

Sprinkle evenly with Parmesan cheese.

Bake, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until heated through.

If desired, garnish with parsley, if desired.

How to Make Hamburger Casserole Ahead

Prepare casserole as directed through Step 3.

Cover unbaked casserole with plastic wrap.

Refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Remove plastic wrap and cover loosely with foil.

Bake in a 350F oven for 30 minutes.

Uncover; bake about 10 minutes more or until heated through.
