How often to water an aloe vera plant growing in a pot is probably less than you think.

Aloes are generally easy-care succulents, but the most common mistake people make with them is overwatering.

As succulents, aloe vera plants are adapted to storing water.
Unlike other houseplants, they don’t need water as soon as the soil is dry an inch deep.
Two key factors are air temperature and soil punch in.
Heat and sunlight will cause your plant to use more water than cool temperatures and lower-intensity indoor lighting.
Because of this, theplant will need less water in the winter.
Check the soil and water only when needed.
Soil pop in
Aloe vera plants needwell-draining soil, like a potting mix designed for succulents.
Those soils, by design, drain faster and hold less water than standard potting soil.
A deep watering like this will likely last your plant several weeks.
Allow the soil to dry again before rewatering.
Normally, we water a plant until liquid comes from the drainage holes.
You think you’ve watered the plant, but you really haven’t given it enough.
Check the soil and inspect the edges of the pot.
It may take a half hour or more of soaking to fully rehydrate the dried out potting soil.
The leaves can start to yellow as well.
To help it recover:
An underwatered aloe plant starts to look weak and thin.
As the water stored in the leaves gets used, the leaves will start to wrinkle and sag.
Then aim to water your aloe vera more often going forward.
