An annual deep cleaning can help maintain mattress hygiene.
Instead, take a vacuum, a bit of cleaning solution, and some sunlight to the surface.
Sunlight exposure can also help kill bacteria and odors.
Rotating a mattress is a good idea to ensure even wear, says Mock.
Rotate it every three to six months or as recommended by the manufacturer.
