Step 3: Score the Edges
Use a utility knife to score the edges of the glass.
This will prevent any paint from pulling from the frame, resulting in clean, crisp lines.
Scrape toward the frame to prevent damage to the frame’s finish.
Moving side-to-side or holding the scraper incorrectly can result in scratched glass.
Vinegar
Hot vinegar is a natural way to remove paint from glass.
Use a saturated rag to scrub the paint until softened, then follow with dish soap and water.
This method is great for textured glass, where scraping isn’t an option.
Nail polish remover
Acetone nail polish remover is a great product for removing paint from glass.
Simply wipe on, let sit, then wipe off.
ensure to clean the acetone from the window completely, especially if in direct sunlight.
Leftover acetone residue can etch the glass over time.
Liquid masking products allow you to brush the actual glass with a protective coating layer.
While these products may seem gimmicky to some, they can be highly effective when used properly.
Once clean, apply the liquid masking product according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Let dry for the specified time.
Paint the frame as you normally would.
Use your fingers to peel off the masking product.
Once removed, clean the glassagain using glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
