Here are a few easy tips to make hand washing dishes easier, more efficient, and more effective.

Using the right kind of sponge is a must.
Since sponges are in close contact with food, they are susceptible to harboring bacteria if overused.
This could be a thick towel, an absorbent drying mat, or a drying rack.
A large rubber spatula is perfect for this job.
Next, decide whether or not you’re need to pre-soak the dishes before you get going washing them.
Work Cleanest to Dirtiest
When you’re ready to wash, reach for the cleanest items first.
This includes drinking glasses, serving bowls, and silverware that does not have stuck-on food.
Scrunch it a few times to disperse the soap throughout the sponge and to create suds.
Then, use the sponge to scrub the dishes.
But when food is baked on or wont come off, switch to the rough side.
However, a quick hand dry can prevent spots on some dishes.
Do not use the scrubbing side of the sponge, because it can scratch dishes and damage their decorations.
Crystal needs special attention.
Crystal is softer than glass and more easily scratched, Eberhard says.
Most dishes and pans will have a stamp on the bottom to tell you any washing restrictions.
Better to use a little extra elbow grease and get the job done right away.
