Stanley Tucci’s House Rules
Keep the kitchen clean.
Turn off the bathroom lightwhich my children never doand that’s about it.
Just turn it off!
You turned it on, so you obviously know where it is and what it does.
So why dont you just do the opposite?
Q: Interestingare there any problems with turning off any other lights?
Most lights are on all the time.
Its a waste of energy; its a waste of everything.
Q: When you say Keep the kitchen clean, is that all the time?
Not when youre cookingyoure cooking.
When youre in it youre in it.
But when youre done, clean it.
Q: Are you a clean-as-you go kind of person?
Normally, I just make a huge mess, but then Ifastidiously clean it afterward.
The bottoms of your pans should be as clean as the inside, meaning the outside bottom.
Q: Are there any house rules your parents instilled in you while you were growing up?
Those things that I just mentioned are some of them.
He never got cold.
Who touched that thermostat?

It was about saving money.
You know, it makes sense.
I mean, put a sweater on.
[But now] I keep it at ahuman temperature.

So we did this thingwe had sweets for people, but we didnt have a real cake.
Put it on a board with figs, nuts, oranges, all that sort of stuff.
Serve it with a really nice red wine or dessert wine, and make it beautiful.
Because of its slightly conical shape, I suggest making it [look like] a Christmas tree.
Theyre just really lovely.
And I do love cheese after a meal.
